| Abstract (English): | Research on free textbooks in Mexico has centered on the dispute for the control of education, and recently on the procedures of the National Commission of Free Textbooks. Little attention has been paid to repercussions in the publishing industry. In particular, no notice has been paid to the displacement of foreign authors and publishing firms, and the use of nationality regulations in an attempt to limit the writing of free textbooks exclusively to Mexico. From a perspective of the history of books and in a dialogue with diverse sources, this article studies such matters, especially the aftereffects for publishing houses and authors of Spanish origin, such as Herrero Hermanos, Luis Fernández G., and Santiago Hernández Ruiz. | Abstract (Spanish): | La investigación sobre el libro de texto gratuito (LTG) en México se ha centrado en la disputa por el control de la educación y, recientemente, en los procedimientos de la Comisión Nacional de Libros de Texto Gratuitos. Escasa atención se ha dado a las repercusiones de éste en la industria editorial. En particular no se había advertido el desplazamiento de autores y sellos editoriales extranjeros y el uso de reglamentación respecto de la nacionalidad para procurar que la escritura del ltg fuera territorio exclusivo mexicano. Desde la historia del libro y en un diálogo con diversas fuentes, en este artículo se estudian tales asuntos, especialmente las secuelas en editoriales y autores de origen español como Herrero Hermanos, Luis Fernández G. y Santiago Hernández Ruiz.
