Abstract: The article focuses on the distribution and mobility of rare earth elements (REEs) in the regolith formed on granite bedrock of the Southeast U.S. and presents results of mineralogical, REE geochemistry and radiogenic isotope studies of weathered metaluminous-to-alkaline igneous rocks in the region. It states that igneous suites of the region is similar to the compositional range that characterizes granitic rocks associated with South China REE ion adsorption clay deposits.
