Abstract (English): This work evaluates the behavior of microstructure in the GMAW of 2205 duplex steels welding for offshore applications. Welding is performed with two input energy levels, 1.5 kJ/mm and 2.5 kJ/mm. Samples from welds for the metallographic analysis by Optical Microscopy of Heat Affected Zone are extracted. The ferrite fraction and austenite in the microstructure is quantified from image processing. It is concluded that the relationship of austenite/ferrite phases in the ZAC was altered, regarding the base metal, without showing significant differences depending on the input energy of the process and ZAC microstructure is constituted by a ferritic matrix with grain boundary austenite (GBA), with Witmastatten austenite (WA) and intragranular austenite (IGA). For offshore applications, it is recommended to use the input energy of 1.5 kJ/mm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): En el presente trabajo se evaluó el comportamiento de la microestructura en la soldadura GMAW de aceros dúplex 2205 para aplicaciones mar adentro. Se realizaron soldaduras con dos nieveles de energía de entrada, 1,5 kJ/mm y 2,5 kJ/mm. De las soldaduras se extrajeron muestras para el análisis metalográfico por microscopía óptica de la zona afectada por el calor. A partir del procesamiento de imágenes se cuantificó la fracción de ferrita y austenita en la microestructura. Se concluye que la relación de fases austenita/ferrita en la ZAC se alteró, con respecto al metal base, sin mostrar diferencias significativas en función de la energía de entrada del proceso y que la microerstructura de la ZAC está constituida por una matriz ferrítica con austenita de contorno de grano (GBA), con austenita de Witmastatten (WA) y con austenita intragranular (IGA). Para aplicaciones mar adento es recomendable usar la energía de entrada de 1,5 kJ/mm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
