Abstract: The article discusses a study on the effects of simulated heat waves on avian physiology. However, the authors' measurement of plasma pigments, specifically bilirubin, does not align with the presence of biliverdin in many avian species. The authors' statement about bilirubin being a component of bile in animals is generally true for mammals but not for vertebrates in general. The authors' citation about birds producing bilirubin contradicts the language provided by their cited source. The methodology used by the authors does not differentiate between bilirubin and biliverdin, so it cannot be determined which pigment was measured.
