| Abstract: | The paper briefly describes the main components of numerical large-eddy simulation (LES) models of atmospheric turbulence developed at Marchuk Institute of Numerical Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Research Computing Center of Lomonosov Moscow State University. The results of numerical simulations of turbulence and pollution transport in the urban environment performed with these models are presented. The paper gives some examples of LES applications to studying the characteristics of turbulent transport in an idealized urban environment and modeling turbulence in a realistic representation of urban development. The current state and trends in the development of LES as applied to the problems of urban meteorology are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
