Abstract: The article provides a response to discussions regarding the monitoring and data analyses of pressure changes and ground settlements during slurry tunnel boring machine (TBM) tunneling in a semiconfined aquifer in the Netherlands. The authors clarify that while grout pressure consistently exceeds pore-water pressure, the peak grout pressure does not influence pore-water pressure, as demonstrated through replotting data and groundwater flow calculations. They also address discrepancies in grout pressure gradients compared to previous studies, noting that variations are due to differences in grout composition and measurement conditions.
