Abstract: In this paper, the governing relations and equations are derived for orthotropic elastic solids with voids. These governing equations are then solved in two dimensions to show three basic waves consisting of quasi-longitudinal displacement (qLD), quasi-transverse displacement (qTD), and quasi-longitudinal volume fractional (qLV). Using appropriate boundary conditions, we derive expressions for the reflection/transmission coefficients and their corresponding energy ratios. For a particular model, the effects of voids, wavenumber, and angle of incident wave have been depicted on phase velocities, reflection and transmission coefficients, as well as energy ratios and reflection and transmission angles of waves. The phenomenon of the normal reflection and transmission wave appears in the case of the incident wave qLD with a low wavenumber. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
