Abstract: Low-grade bituminous coal is commonly used for combustion for power generation and as gasification coal. In order to explore a new way of clean utilization of bituminous coal, this paper studies the effect of oxidizing agent on extraction of humic acid from bituminous coal, using chlorine dioxide and hydrogen peroxide to oxidize bituminous coal, and then extracting humic acid by alkali-soluble acid extraction, and analyzes the obtained humic acid. The findings indicated that various oxidants influenced the extraction rate and purity of humic acid derived from bituminous coal. The humic acid extraction yield from bituminous coal pretreated with 2% chlorine dioxide was 56.00%, with a purity of 18.80%. The purity of humic acid of bituminous coal pretreatment with 30% hydrogen peroxide was the highest, reaching 50.84%, and the extraction rate was 53.47%. Humic acid extracted from bituminous coal pretreatment by chlorine dioxide is rich in functional groups, such as methyl, methylene, carboxyl, carbon–carbon double bond, etc., and its molecular weight is small. The results show that oxidizing agent has great influence on extraction rate, purity and functional group content of bituminous coal humic acid, but has little influence on functional group type.
