Abstract: Buried pipeline leakage of inflammable and explosive medium into the closed space of an underground canal is easy to cause explosion accidents. In order to explore the explosion characteristics of non-uniform mixed gas leakage in different underground closed space structures, the underground closed space is simplified into U-shaped, L-shaped, and straight pipe structures through experiments and simulations, and the concentration gradient evolution and explosion characteristics of non-uniform methane-air mixed gas leakage in the early stage are compared. The results show that the non-uniform mixed gas diffuses in a confined space to form a certain concentration gradient. The concentration gradient range in the straight-tube confined space is the largest, reaching 0.379 mol/L. The flame structure in the curved closed space is obviously different from that in the straight pipe structure. The maximum overpressure in the curved structure shows an upward trend with the diffusion time. The maximum overpressure in the L-type is the highest, followed by the U-type, and the maximum overpressure in the straight pipe type is small, only 47.532 kPa. Finally, according to the above characteristics, the quantitative relationship between concentration gradient and explosion overpressure in a larger confined space is derived. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
