Abstract: Chapter 3 of the book "Petroleum Reservoir Simulations: A Basic Approach" is presented. This chapter discusses the different flow equations using the Control Volume Finite Difference (CVFD) method. It gives an introduction on the CVFD method terminology and the relationship between CVFD and the traditional way of writing finite-difference equations. Topics include among others, flow equations using CVFD and engineering notation, and flow equations using CVFD and the natural ordering scheme.
