Abstract: The article describes the case of Michigan Consolidated Gas Co. (MichCon) in Detroit, Michigan to illustrate the effectiveness the PI System from OSIsoft Inc. The PI System serves as MichCon's software infrastructure for managing collection, storage, and presentation of system and equipment operating data. It was noted that the PI System has helped bridge the gap between process automation and business reporting systems at MichCon.
