Abstract: The article examines the growing popularity of natural gas as a global energy source because of its low-carbon footprint. The factors that are driving the debate on energy include climate change and supply security. A structural shift in energy markets is also influenced by the energy industry's realization that gas may be a destination fuel, or the fuel of no choice, according to the authors.
