Abstract: The consequence of the metal-insulator coexisting state in CMR manganite thin films in the macroscopic properties has been studied. Conventional transport measurement together with microcontact probe measurement and IR transmission spectroscopy revealed that the two phases coexist even far away from the transition temperature, that the coexistence is very robust, and that the inhomogeneity can be large scale. The use of untextured films allows us to show that the inhomogeneity is not pinned by defects and hence genuine thermodynamic phenomenon. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
