| Abstract: | The article reports on the dispute between Shell Canada and the Oil Sands Environmental Coalition (OSEC) which marks the end of a fruitful relationship between Shell and environmental groups. Under an agreement signed by Shell with OSEC, the oil company promised to set targets for reduced greenhouse-gas emissions at two oilsands projects, which OSEC claims Shell has repudiated. The dispute is also cited as an indication of the failure of Canada to control industrial greenhouse-gas emissions. |
