| Abstract: | This theoretical paper is the concluding part of an extensive two-part examination of the problem of educating adult educators. The first part dealt with the relationship of adult education to other disciplines. This part establishes a framework for classifying areas of needed research in the field of adult education. The framework used here is based on application--learning, teaching, social change, guidance, and other activities. Some of the areas of need identified are tied almost wholly to a specific discipline or an applied field, while others are associated with certain program areas. Three interrelated categories of application are used: (1) the adult as an individual and as a learner, (2) the adult's response to sociocultural phenomena, and (3) the adult education enterprise. A background is provided for each area of need; series of questions are asked in order to demonstrate the scope of these needs; and each need is given focus by a short statement or a few summarizing questions.
