Abstract: Significant characteristics of the guidance program are reviewed and materials developed, staff preparation, tryout procedures, and implementation and evaluation plans are described. To try out evaluation procedures, a random sample of 505 students in grades 7, 8, and 9 in six schools provided data for (1) measuring student choices relative to educational and vocational planning, the extent of student ability to make these choices, and the extent to which the student ability to make these choices, and the extent to which the student displayed positive attitudes relative to these choices, and (2) evaluating program activities in each grade. Four instruments were used to gather data: (1) a four-part Educational and Vocational Inventory, (2) Parent Information Questionnaire, (3) Indices of Choice Quality, and (4) Implementation Record for Guidance Activities. The results suggested that the program had considerable potential and that students would increase their capabilities to make appropriate educational and vocational decisions by completing the program. The appendixes include (1) outlines of the Student Vocational Plans, (2) samples of Activity Forms for student use, material from the "Counselor Handbook," a job description, a job chart, and occupational analysis chart, and a McBee card for occupational analysis, and (3) the instruments used in this phase of the program. Other reports are available as VT 001 392-001 397 and ED 013 318. (EM)
