Abstract: The Inter-American Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IICA) is a specialized agency of the Organization of American States, devoted to the promotion of inter-american solidarity through leadership, institutional cooperation and multinational efforts. The programs for the development of the library and documentation services of the Library and Documentation Service, at an inter-american level are carried out on the basis of five main activities: (1) Documentation activities, particularly in the field of bibliography, standardization, reproduction of documents and communications; (2) Training courses for agricultural librarians; (3) Consultation services for member countries of the Organization of American States; (4) Library and documentation publications program and (5) Promotion of cooperation and realization of technical meetings, seminars and roundtables, at the inter-american level.
