Abstract: Project TOMORROW is designed to provide better vocational education for Colorado youth and adults who have special problems, including social and economic disadvantagement, participation in student unrest, disinterest in education, dropping out of school, lack of motivation, and drug use. Phase 1 of the project (1970-1971) sought to help a number of Colorado school districts develop at least one vocational teacher as a resource person on the vocational problems of youth and adults with special problems. A total of 30 vocational teachers were brought together in a variety of meetings and were encouraged to conduct projects that put them on a one-to-one basis with youth, adults, parents, teachers, and others in alleviating the vocational problems of the disadvantaged. Outcomes resulting from Phase 1 activities include a distinct change in the attitude of participants, continuation or development of projects for the next year, high degree of awareness on the part of the participants' supervisors, and descriptions of projects conducted by participants. Phase 2, planned for 1971-1972, will seek to establish teams in the school districts which will concentrate on special projects in vocational education for youth and adults with special needs. The teams will be set in target areas where the need is great. (Author/SB)
