| Abstract: | This book presents a series of readings prepared for college teachers. Its chapters provide first-person accounts of teaching strategies that have been successfully employed at Northwestern University. Each chapter offers a unique perspective on teaching by an individual credited with exceptional skill in his craft. Contributors were selected because of a commitment to teaching and learning that results in superior classroom performance. Their interdisciplinary institutional affiliations (arts and sciences, engineering, education, speech, journalism, and medicine) provide a sample of the changes in teaching and learning at Northwestern that are helping to reaffirm the basic mission of the University.
