Abstract: In order to assess the felt needs and interests of the local population and business community relative to education and training, a survey was designed and implemented in the four-county area surrounding Waco, Texas. This volume, part two of a three part series, documents the work done in developing and conducting the business and industry employee-skill needs survey, and provides a data base to be used by curriculum planners. The survey instrument was used in 127 interviews with business and agency executives from widely differing business, manufacturing, and human service concerns. The survey instrument, which is appended to this report, consists of 33 questions to obtain data in each of the following categories: (1) general information; (2) employee information, including the number of full and part-time employees, sex, desirable education level, and starting salary; (3) entrance requirements, including age and educational prerequisites, and previous job experience; (4) problems, including hiring problems, and skill training needs of new employees; and (5) supportive educational programs. Responses are tabulated and charted. Appendices include lists of the interviews conducted and a code manual to aid in categorizing independent responses for data processing purposes. (NHM)
