Abstract: This collection of abstracts is part of a continuing series providing information on recent doctoral dissertations. The 27 titles deal with a variety of topics, including the following: models for college courses dealing with films and literature and with women in literature; the effects of selected variables on children's and adults' responses to literature; the portrayal of the aging, the American Indian, city life, black people, and women in children's fiction; methods for teaching inner city eighth graders about literature and for teaching college students about Renaissance poetry and paradox in literature; the inclusion of the study of myths and fairy tales in school curricula; introductory literature courses in selected black colleges; the development of a senior high school literature program based on the study of cultural pluralism; religious child-oriented literature in colonial New England; children's recreational reading book choices; research in literary response and teaching; an instrument for the analysis of literature teaching in the secondary school; and a comparison of values found in children's books with those held by adults.
