Abstract: The collective bargaining agreement between University of California and University Council, American Federation of Teachers, Non-Senate Instructional Unit, for the period covering July 1, 1986-June 30, 1988, is presented. Items covered in the agreement include: unit recognition; academic freedom; academic responsibility; nondiscrimination; nonlecturer unit members; academic year and 9-month appointment; appointment; instructional support; professional meetings and programs; personnel files; benefits; retirement; leaves; per diem; holidays; moving expenses; medical separation; layoff, reduction in time, and reemployment; resignation; reassignment; rehabilitation; salary; merit; summer session; instructional workload; union rights; released time; payroll deductions; management rights; academic calendars; discipline and dismissal; sexual harassment; grievance procedure; arbitration; and no strike provision. Appendices include: a directory of benefit representatives for University of California campuses; a summary of benefits, retirement plans, and leaves; 1985-1986 salary tables; and a campus directory of sexual harassment complaint resolution officers.
