| Abstract: | The Commission on Preservation and Access was established to foster and support collaboration among libraries and allied organizations in order to ensure the preservation of the published and documentary records in all formats and to provide enhanced access to scholarly information. The Commission's newsletter keeps preservation and access personnel updated on current developments, issues, and technologies in the field. This document consists of 10 issues of the newsletter published in 1995 (July-August and November-December were combined issues). Highlights include a study on archiving digital information (January); a project for digitally encoding finding aids and an introduction to a new report series on international preservation (February); the affiliation of the Commission on Preservation and Access with the Council on Library Resources and the second issue of the international preservation report series (March); the creation of the European Register of Microform Masters as a central database for microfilm materials sharing (April); a definition of preservation and a statement on fiscal year 1996 appropriations for the National Endowment for the Humanities (May); the establishment of a National Digital Library Federation (June); a report on magnetic media (July-August); an international program series report on preservation and access activities in Latin America (September); a report proposing options for scholarly involvement in preservation (October); and the establishment of principles for the National Digital Library Foundation (November-December).
