Abstract: The experiences of schools and sixth form and further education colleges in the United Kingdom in implementing Curriculum 2000 in the 18 months since the introduction of Qualifying for Success reforms were tracked. The key issues for implementing the curriculum in 2001-2002 that were identified by 10 case study schools and post-16 institutions were compared against the list of issues they identified a year earlier. The individual institutions identified a variety of key issues. General consensus was expressed regarding the need to accomplish the following objectives: (1) refine and develop the support available to students; (2) ensure the quality of the education experience of learners aged 16-19 years; and (3) raise achievement levels. Other key issues raised included meeting the challenges of introducing General Certificate of Secondary Education qualifications in vocational subjects, meeting the needs of a wider range of students, making greater use of information and computer technology, and increasing cooperation and partnerships between schools and colleges. The 10 institutions wrote case study reports documenting their experiences with Curriculum 2000. Finally, sample profiles of Curriculum 2000 learners were developed and provided along with the findings from student focus groups. The students commented on approaches to the following items: tutoring, enrichment, dropping subjects, progression, and key skills. (MN)
