Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to examine the benefits of holistically focused education, more specifically the holistically focused enrichment wheel at an elementary school in Vista California. The research was done by formulating research questions that were answered by the current literature and interview questions that were answered by current teachers at the school site. The purpose of the study is to: examine the benefits of holistically focused enrichment courses at the elementary school level. The study has found the wheel to be useful as a tool to increase student engagement in the classroom, the claim was supported by 100% of the participants in IQ #2. The study found 83% of participants could benefit from professional development opportunities in the holistic education courses (IQ#4). 100% of participants said the benefits of the enrichment courses exceeded expectations (IQ#7). The study explores the use of the enrichment courses from a behaviorist approach, the enrichment wheel was used as a reward, a punishment, and some participants chose neither a punishment nor reward because they did not want students to miss out on the enrichment courses. The research found that all 12 participants believe the best way to successfully incorporate more holistically focused enrichment courses into the general education classroom is through the use of the enrichment specialists (IQ#10). The study found the holistically focused enrichment courses to be successful and the benefits should be studied further.
