| Abstract: | Road design education faces challenges in effectively bridging theoretical knowledge with realworld applications. Traditional classroom-based teaching methods often fall short in preparing engineering students for the complexities encountered in practical scenarios. To address this gap, innovative pedagogical strategies, such as micro-field trips, have been introduced to enhance the learning experience. This study explores the influence of micro-field trips on the learning experiences of students in the 'Road Construction II' course at Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja. The course adopts a varied instructional approach, incorporating micro-field trips to bridge theoretical understanding with practical, hands-on applications. Two student groups, Group A (22 students) and Group B (45 students), participated during the academic period from April to August 2023. A confidential survey was conducted a week before the semester's end to gather student perceptions of micro-field trips, revealing that students agreed with the one-hour weekly duration and its alignment with weekly topics. The study aims to provide insights for optimizing future implementations. Results indicate the positive impact of micro-field trips in reinforcing theoretical concepts, fostering professional skills, and addressing real-world problems. Despite these advantages, challenges such as time constraints, weather dependency, and content coverage limitations are identified, necessitating strategic planning for enhanced effectiveness.
