Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) is evolving rapidly, transforming how people learn, work, and live on an unprecedented scale. Jobs for the Future (JFF) believes that AI has the potential to accelerate economic advancement for everyone--but only if it is intentionally designed to do so. As AI transforms society, this population-specific spotlight examines Black learners' and workers' experiences with and perceptions of AI and explores the potential impact of AI on the Black community. In this brief, the author and contributors spotlight the Black community--a demographic group that, according to research undertaken for the March 2025 JFF report, is already highly engaged with AI. JFF highlights insights shared by the Black participants in a national survey and by members of focus groups conducted with Black learners and workers to gauge their perceptions of and experiences with AI. They also share the views and perspectives that AI experts in a range of sectors expressed in interviews with JFF. The author and contributors examine how Black individuals in the U.S. perceive and experience the impacts of AI, and explore the potential ways in which the Black community could benefit from AI as this new technology continues to evolve. Finally, they highlight steps that workforce and education practitioners, investors, employers, and policymakers can take to ensure that AI benefits everyone. The analysis shows that the potential for AI to propel Black Americans forward is significant, and there's a great deal of momentum to build on.
