Abstract: This is a research on the academic and parent experiences of the student-parents in Negros Oriental State University--Guihulngan Campus regarding the institutional support and policies that influence their performance in school. It looks at the student parent profile, major stumbling blocks, and course work and opportunities at the university. The respondents were surveyed and a total of 92 participants were studied in different departments to evaluate the roles in academic undertakings, parenthood, financial burden, schedule, social support, financial support of the institute, and participation in the classes. The findings display complete overlap of important problems with significant mean scores in all categories academics (4.02), parenting roles (4.00), social support (3.9), and emotional well-being (3.8). The answers about the need to balance between school and family (3.3) and academic performance (3.12) were mixed, however. After that, a poor relationship was found between the demographic characteristics and the level of academic support (3.14), the quality of the university resources (2.98), or academic achievements (2.84). This implies that policies in the institutions and individual approaches are more significant than the demographics. Student-parents despite the pressure of their roles are very resilient, managing their time excellently, and have commendable performance in their schools. Nevertheless, economic pressure, emotional, and psychological burden as well as restricted opportunities in the childcare and learning departments are major obstacles. Although the support of their university is crucial, it is necessary to pay more attention to the financial aid and social isolation to guarantee their success.
