Abstract: The teen years can be turbulent for all students, but particularly so for those who are twice exceptional from traditionally underserved, minority populations. Focusing on the voices and stories of twice exceptional students, this book explores the interconnectedness between teens' social identities and their twice-exceptionality. Each chapter focuses on a different underserved population and is written by an expert member of that population. Designed to help practicing educators better understand and serve their students, this book describes what it is like for these students navigating multiple social identities, illuminates areas of social emotional concern and common coping mechanisms, and offers suggestions for ways in which educators can provide much needed support to address these needs. Teachers, counsellors, psychologists, and gifted and special education specialists will find this book an invaluable resource for ensuring that their classrooms are bastions of success for these unique learners.
