| Abstract: | A new generation of policies can trace the path from wealth to inclusion. Building on its urban and youthful population, Equatorial Guinea can shift from a model of extraction to one of prosperity. This report--the World Bank's first Poverty and Equity Assessment for Equatorial Guinea--identifies three priorities to accelerate poverty reduction and foster a growing middle class: Invest in human capital to unlock productivity and intergenerational mobility; enable private-sector growth to create more and better jobs; and strengthen resilience to economic and climate shocks through adaptive social protection and more pro-poor fiscal spending. Together, these measures can convert resource wealth into lasting prosperity for all Equatoguineans. [This report was prepared in collaboration with the Government of Equatorial Guinea.] |
