| Abstract: | The DAATS (Dispositions Assessments Aligned with Teacher Standards) battery is a series of five instruments of different item types that measure teachers' consistency with the critical dispositions embedded in the InTASC Standards. The purpose of this study was to continue a 20-year research project on the development and implementation of instruments in the battery that can be used for various purposes. Although a problem exists in defining and measuring teacher dispositions, this phase of the research works toward a shortened solution for building a composite single instrument, defined by the InTASC standards. Research questions centered on the validity and reliability of alternate forms of the instruments along with potential use of a shortened form of the battery. As a quantitative study, dichotomous and polytomous responses were scaled using the Rasch model of item response theory. Results indicate that the DAATS short form maintains evidence of validity and reliability and provides promise for a variety of short forms of the battery. In conclusion the DAATS battery can be useful for making decisions about teachers' dispositions that can lead to opportunities for improvement at the student, course, and program levels. Continued testing of other short forms and improvement opportunities are recommended. |
