Abstract: Amid growing mental health concerns among college students, higher education institutions are increasingly called to lead systemic, collaborative, and forward-thinking responses to meet students' evolving needs, especially across the SACSA region. Grounded in Ecological Systems Theory, Crisis Theory, and public health models, the article repositions mental health as a shared ecosystem of care that extends beyond counseling centers. It explores the evolving role of student affairs professionals as first-line responders, relational practitioners, and institutional wellness leaders. The article outlines strategies such as integrated care frameworks, scalable services, contemplative and self-regulation practices, and policies that foster psychological safety and equity. Emphasis is placed on the need for sustained professional development, inclusive wellness infrastructures, and institutional advocacy to promote long-term transformation. Bridging theory and practice, this article offers a conceptual roadmap for creating campus environments that support holistic student well-being, foster resilience, and embed mental health into the mission of higher education.
