Abstract: This study addresses the gap between Hispanic K-12 students and teachers in Texas by examining the challenges faced by LOTE -- Spanish teacher candidates. With certification exam pass rates ranging from 40% to 53%, targeted preparation materials and practice modules were developed to enhance performance. The study emphasizes the need for a second methodology course and improved academic writing skills for teacher candidates, aiming to better support pre-service teachers and improve certification outcomes.
