Abstract: Purpose: This study aims to explore the factors that will affect the behavior of university students to take action for climate change mitigation, focusing on the library services and opportunities to access to information at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) in Oman. Drawing on the theory of planned behavior (TPB) as a theoretical framework, this study explores the relationship between attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control and behavioral intention toward students' actual use of library resources for climate change information. Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative research methodology was used, with data collected through a questionnaire administered to all students at SQU of whom 423 students responded. Findings: Consistent with TPB, attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control positively influence students' intentions to use library resources. Additionally, this study highlights the pivotal role of libraries in providing access to reliable and comprehensive climate change information, thereby supporting mitigation efforts. Originality/value: The results underscore the importance of enhancing library outreach, digital resource availability and educational programming to foster greater student engagement in climate change mitigation practices. The study concludes by suggesting future research directions to explore barriers to participation and the long-term impacts of improved library services on climate change mitigation behaviors.
