| Abstract (English): | Advances display screens (VDU) and their use in digital computers and mobile telephony, among many applications, are extraordinary in both the technical improvement and optimization of its functions. These achievements should be used with logic and reasoning. Its misuse may be the cause of many disturbances or organic deformites changes and subsequently work disabilities. The most investigated are deformities of the spine: hyperkyphosis; hyperlordosis and called black flat on which there is a decrease in the lumbar curvature and disorder functions. All these alterations, caused by faulty postures they assume users are manifested with cervicalgia (neck pain) and medium to long term with osteoarthritis (degeneration of cartilage). Another documented and studied alterations is the carpal tunnel syndrome, which is caused by increased pressure inside on the channel in the course of inflammation of the tendons of the flexor muscles that compress the median nerve in it passes through channel and is manifested with diffuse pain, paresthesia, hypoesthesia or anesthesia of the hand. Improper application of the computer keyboard, inappropriate and excessive use of tools (internet, mobile phone and VDU) and repetitive hand movements can cause carpal tunnel syndrome. The well oriented education and primary prevention could reduce the organic and functional alterations caused by overuse of the display screens of data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Spanish): | Los avances logrados por las Pantallas de Visualización de Datos (PVD) y su empleo en los computadores digitales y la telefonía móvil, entre muchas de sus aplicaciones, son extraordinarios tanto en el perfeccionamiento técnico como en la optimización de sus funciones. Estos alcances se deben utilizar con lógica y raciocinio. Su utilización incorrecta puede ser la causa de muchas alteraciones o deformidades orgánicas y subsecuentemente incapacidades laborales. Las más investigadas son las deformidades de la columna vertebral: hipercifosis; hiperlordosis, y la llamada espalda plana en la cual hay disminución de la curvatura lumbar y trastorno de sus funciones. Todas estas alteraciones, provocadas por las posturas defectuosas que asumen los usuarios, se manifiestan con cervicalgia (dolor en el cuello) y a mediano o largo plazo con artrosis (degeneración del cartílago). Otra de las alteraciones documentadas y estudiadas es el síndrome del túnel carpiano, que es provocado por el aumento de la presión en el interior del canal en el curso de una inflamación de los tendones de los músculos flexores que comprimen el nervio mediano en su paso por el canal y que se manifiesta con dolor difuso, parestesias, hipoestesia o anestesia de la mano. La aplicación inadecuada del teclado del computador, el empleo inapropiado y excesivo de herramientas (Internet, PVD, computadores digitales y telefonía celular) y los movimientos manuales repetitivos pueden causar síndrome del túnel carpiano. La educación bien orientada y la prevención primaria podrían disminuir las alteraciones orgánicas y funcionales provocadas por el uso excesivo de las pantallas de visualización de datos.
