Abstract (English): Introduction: Slaughterhouse wastewater has high concentration of organic matter, both dissolved and suspended, and a high concentration of fats. Over the last decades these effluents have been released to the environment without previous treatment, threatening public health and environmental sustainability, in this way its treatment is an economic and public health need. Biological treatment is an efficient and safe alternative, using bacteria that feed, through the cytoplasmic membrane, on the soluble fraction of organic matter. Objective: To determine the influence of native microorganisms in the treatment of slaughterhouses wastewater. Material and Methods: effluents from five slaughterhouses located in the city of Trujillo were collected, and we worked in two groups: the first group with static effluent (control) and the second group with effluent with aeration at 0,5vvm reason. COD, BOD5 and final oils and fats after three days of treatment; the initial values were measured. Results: an efficiency of 83% and 44% in decreasing of COD and BOD5 was observed, which is higher than the results obtained in the control group; the oils and fats decreased in the effluent was minimal. Conclusion: the treatment of slaughterhouses wastewater by activated sludge is an efficient alternative to reduce the level of pollution of these effluents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Introducción: Las aguas residuales de matadero poseen una elevada concentración de materia orgánica, tanto disuelta como en suspensión, y una concentración importante de grasas, A lo largo de las últimas décadas se han liberado estos efluentes, sin tratamiento previo, al ambiente, atentando contra la salud pública y la sustentabilidad ambiental, es por ello que su tratamiento es una necesidad económica y de higiene pública. El tratamiento biológico constituye una alternativa eficiente e inocua, utilizándose bacterias que se alimentan a través de su membrana citoplasmática, de la fracción soluble de la materia orgánica. Objetivo: determinar la influencia de microorganismos nativos en el tratamiento de efluentes residuales de camales. Material y método: se recolectaron efluentes residuales procedentes de cinco camales localizados en la Ciudad de Trujillo, y se procedió a trabajar con 2 grupos: el primer grupo donde se colocó efluente estático (testigo) y en el segundo grupo se colocó efluente con aireación a razón de 0,5vvm. Se midió los valores iniciales de: DQO, DBO5 y aceites y grasas y finales después de tres días de tratamiento. Resultados: Se observó una eficiencia del 83% y 44% en la disminución de la DQO y DBO5, siendo superior a la obtenida por el grupo testigo, la disminución de aceites y grasas del efluente fue mínima. Conclusión: el tratamiento de efluentes residuales de camales mediante lodos activados resulta una alternativa eficiente para disminuir el grado de contaminación de estos efluentes.
