Abstract (English): In this work findings derived from the application of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, in a patient with tumors, are identified. The tumors require of segmentation and quantification process before and after those therapies. In order to obtain the morphology of such tumors and their volumes, a computational technique used in 3D images of positron emission tomography (PET) fused with computed tomography (CT), belonging to a pediatric patient diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), is proposed. The proposed technique is divided into two stages: pre-processing and segmentation. The pre-processing is based on the application of a filtering process based on global enhancement similarity (GSE) to raise the quality of the information in the images. For tumors segmentation a technique based on region growing is considered. The NHL volumes derived from segmentation, are useful for both clinical monitoring lymphoma and analysis of therapeutic procedure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Mediante el presente trabajo se identifican un conjunto de hallazgos derivados de la aplicación de radioterapia y quimioterapia a un paciente que presenta formaciones tumorales los cuales requieren de un proceso de segmentación y cuantificación antes y después de las mencionadas terapias. A fin de obtener la morfología de tales tumores y establecer con precisión el volumen que ocupan. Para ello, se propone una técnica computacional que se utiliza en imágenes 3D de tomografía por emisión de positrones (PET) fusionadas con tomografía computarizada (CT) pertenecientes a un paciente pediátrico diagnosticado con linfoma no Hodgkin (NHL). La metodología planteada se divide en dos etapas: pre-procesamiento, segmentación. La etapa de pre-procesamiento está basada en la aplicación de un proceso de filtrado, basada en realce por similaridad global (GSE), para elevar la calidad de la información presente en las mencionadas imágenes. Para la segmentación de los tumores se hace uso de una técnica basada en crecimiento de regiones. A partir de la segmentación del NHL se estiman los volúmenes útiles tanto para el seguimiento clínico del mencionado linfoma como para el análisis del procedimiento terapéutico aplicado.
