Abstract (English): Many of the skin affections probably are as ancient as humanity itself. The pre-Colombian indigenous tribes preceded them and found in their beliefs and nature the necessary elements to treat them, also their imagination lead to the development of prevention methods. I present a summary of the diverse indigenous cultures that have existed in the Colombian territory, the concept of health and disease that they had, a little of the terminology to denote the skin affections and, i tell some of these diseases and the treatments that were used by the aborigines, information obtained of documents and books of Spanish conquering chronicles, of archeological findings and of the oral transmission that for centuries have been perpetuated in said communities. Abstract (Spanish): Muchas de las afecciones de la piel quizás sean tan antiguas como la humanidad misma. Los antepasados indígenas precolombinos las padecieron y encontraron en sus creencias y en la naturaleza los elementos para tratarlas, como también su imaginación los llevó a desarrollar métodos de prevención. Presento un resumen de las diversas culturas indígenas que han existido en el territorio colombiano, el concepto sobre salud y enfermedad que manejaron, algo sobre la terminología para denotar las afectaciones en la piel, y, relato algunas de esas enfermedades y los tratamientos que fueron utilizados por los aborígenes, información obtenida de documentos y libros de cronistas españoles conquistadores, de hallazgos arqueológicos y de la trasmisión oral que durante siglos se ha perpetuado en las comunidades que subsisten.
