| Abstract (English): | Basic medication prescription and administration to low-risk patients is a new task of Nursing Baccalaureates and Nursing Residents in Mexico. On March the 8th 2017, an AGREEMENT was published in the Official Diary outlining the related procedures which Nursing Baccalaureates must follow. This new disposition includes the corresponding accountability for nursing personnel's negligence, lack of prudence and accuracy, as well as their obligation to respond to generated damages in the civil, administrative, and penal areas. Because of all that, strategies on pharmacological training and updating are proposed so that nurses can safely perform the task of prescribing and administering basic medication to low-risk patients. | Abstract (Spanish): | La prescripción y administración de los medicamentos del Cuadro Básico, en pacientes de bajo riesgo, es una nueva tarea de los Licenciados en Enfermería y Pasantes de Enfermería en México. A partir del 8 de Marzo del presente año, se publicó en el Diario Oficial el ACUERDO por el que se emiten los lineamientos y procedimientos a los que deben sujetarse los Licenciados en Enfermería por la prescripción de los medicamentos. Y es que esta nueva disposición, implica también una responsabilidad por negligencia, impericia e imprudencia que lleva consigo una obligación del personal de Enfermería de responder civil, administrativa y/o penalmente por el daño producido. Por lo anterior, se propone diseñar estrategias de capacitación y actualización en materia de farmacología para realizar esta labor de prescribir y administrar medicamentos de forma segura para el paciente.
