Abstract (English): The article refers to the understanding of madness and the role of psychotherapy for face it. Madness is a polyhedral and multidimensional fact that is part of the nature of the human species. Relative to historical conditions, it is currently faces from the medical and psychological perspectives in our consumer society, although each cultural community has its specific definitions and strategies. Abstract (Spanish): El artículo se refiere a la comprensión de la locura y el papel de la psicoterapia para enfrentarla. La locura es un hecho poliédrico y multidimensional que forma parte de la naturaleza de la especie humana. Relativa a las condiciones históricas, en la actualidad se encara desde las perspectivas médica y psicológica en nuestra sociedad de consumo, aunque cada comunidad cultural tiene sus definiciones y estrategias específicas.
