| Abstract (English): | Patients suffering from aesthetic dysfunctions have several therapeutic options for improving the appearance of the skin. The available treatments that provide desirable results are oftentimes, clearly invasive and result in undesirable risks. Microneedling has recently emerged as an alternative of non-ablative treatment for treating patients worried about their appearance. The most abrasive treatments, such as lasers and chemical peels, are also widespread among the dermatologists, because of the indisputable stimulus in the collagen induction. In counterbalance, the recovery of these procedures, compared to the roller, is slower, being able to result in sensitive tissues, subject to hyperpigmentation, photosensitivity, cutaneous inflammation, added to the risk of complications, as the formation of hypertrophic scarring, persistent erythema and dyschromias, which makes the microneedling a safer and more effective technique. The equipment consists of a polyethylene roll composed of fine sterile stainlesssteel needles, arranged in rows containing between 192 and 540 needles. Its length may vary from 0.25 mm to 2.5 mm in length. The treatment is made through the perforation of the stratum corneum, without causing damage to the epidermis, thus, inducing the release of growth factors, causing to happen the induction of collagen and elastin production in the dermis. | Abstract (Portuguese): | Pacientes que sofrem de disfunções estéticas têm várias opções terapêuticas para melhorar a aparência da pele. Os tratamentos disponíveis que fornecem resultados desejáveis são, muitas vezes, claramente invasivos e acarretam riscos indesejáveis. O microagulhamento surgiu recentemente como alternativa de tratamento não ablativo para o tratamento de pacientes preocupados com a aparência. Os tratamentos mais abrasivos, como lasers e peelings, também são bem difundidos entre os dermatologistas pelo indiscutível estímulo na indução de colágeno. Em contrapeso, a recuperação desses procedimentos, comparados com o roller, é mais lenta, podendo resultar em tecidos sensíveis, sujeitos à hiperpigmentação, fotossensibilidade, inflamação cutânea, somado ao risco de complicações, como formação de cicatrizes hipertróficas, eritema persistente e discromias, o que faz do microagulhamento uma técnica mais segura e mais eficaz. O equipamento consiste em um rolo de polietileno composto por finas agulhas de aço inoxidável estéreis, dispostas em fileiras contendo entre 192 e 540 agulhas. Seu comprimento pode variar de 0,25 mm a 2,5 mm de comprimento. O tratamento é realizado através da perfuração do estrato córneo, sem provocar danos na epiderme, induzindo, assim, à liberação de fatores de crescimento, fazendo com que aconteça a indução da produção de colágeno e elastina na derme.
