| Abstract (English): | High stress, the anxiety and the depression in the perinatal stage are not systematically addressed from the health services. These experiences have important consequences, both for the mother who suffers them and for her son or daughter. We comment on the scientific evidence that shows us how these psychological problems of the mother affect the child's mental health and adolescent (temperament, cognitive development, behavior, emotional development), and the anatomical and physiological bases that explain it. All this leads to the need for early detection of mental health problems in pregnancy and after delivery, as well as the development of possible interventions to minimize their effects, and the need for support from the mental health and social work units.
