Abstract (English): A literature and current documents review related to the pattern of the professional's training of stomatology career was carried out, in order to value the social aspects of science and technology that impact in the investigative training of the students of this career. It was observed little use of information and communications technologies to solve independent works, poor development of skills for internet searches and the implementation of this technologies in investigative activities for student teams, as well as limited integration of technologies in the curricular aspect. The necessity of an investigative training was reaffirmed in these students, taking into account the social, economic and technological complexity to integrate the new generations in the administration of knowledge and stimulate learning. Abstract (Spanish): Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica y de los documentos normativos relacionados con el modelo de formación del profesional de la carrera de Estomatología, a fin de valorar los aspectos sociales de la ciencia y la tecnología que inciden en la formación investigativa de los estudiantes de esta carrera. Se observó poca utilización de las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones para solucionar los trabajos independientes, escaso desarrollo de habilidades para las búsquedas en internet y la aplicación de dichas tecnologías en actividades investigativas por equipos estudiantiles, así como limitada integración de las tecnologías en lo curricular. Se reafirmó la necesidad de una formación investigativa en estos estudiantes, teniendo en cuenta la complejidad social, económica y tecnológica para integrar las nuevas generaciones en la gestión del conocimiento y estimular el aprendizaje.
