| Abstract (English): | Introduction. It is considered that in the temporomandibular joint of children, the glenoid cavity is almost flat with a low prominence of the anterior or temporal condyle that allows the anterior displacement of the jaw, so that the incisors cross over is smaller and it is considered that there is no Spee curve, and its analysis is lacking. Objective. To analyze the frequency and risk association of the presence of the Spee curve in each of the terminal planes and the overbite. Material and method. In a cross-sectional, prospective and analytical clinical epidemiological study, a heterodemic and multicentric probabilistic sample stratified by sex was analyzed, from 140 sets of temporary dentition models of the child population aged 3 to 5 years, without loss of proximal walls or cavitations for caries, as well as with fractured dental organs. Were analyzed the dependent variables Spee curve, terminal plane and overbite. Results. Were tested the hypothesis of dependence of the Spee curve with respect to the type of terminal plane (c2 = 7.104, p = 0.01, Gl = 1). The prevalence rate of the presence of the Spee curve was 43.47%. Its association with the straight terminal plane is RM = 3.96 and with the deep bite it is RM = 2.89. Conclusions. The curve of Spee is present in the deciduous dentition and responds to the need to compensate the condylar trajectory that promotes the maximum intercuspidization that allows protrusive de-occlusion thanks to the anterior and condylar guides that avoid excessive pressure in the posterior area, optimizes the incisive function during the cutting action and promotes the wear of cusps and incisal edges, which is why deep bites were not found. | Abstract (Spanish): | Introducción. Se considera que en la articulación temporomandibular del niño, la cavidad glenoidea es casi plana con una escasa prominencia del cóndilo anterior o temporal, que permite el desplazamiento anterior de la mandíbula, por lo que el entrecruzamiento de los incisivos es menor y se considera que no existe la curva de Spee, y se carece de su análisis. Objetivo. Analizar la frecuencia y asociación de riesgo de la presencia de la curva de Spee en cada uno de los planos terminales y la sobre mordida vertical. Material y método. En un estudio clínico epidemiológico, transversal, prospectivo y analítico, se analizó una muestra probabilística heterodémica y multicéntrica estratificada por sexo, de 140 juegos de modelos de dentición temporal de la población infantil con edades entre tres y cinco años, sin pérdida de paredes proximales ni cavitaciones por caries, así como con órganos dentales fracturados. Se analizaron las variables dependientes curva de Spee, plano terminal y sobre mordida vertical. Resultados. Se probó la hipótesis de dependencia de la curva de Spee respecto al tipo de plano terminal (c2 = 7.104, p = 0.01, Gl = 1). La tasa de prevalencia de la presencia de la curva de Spee fue del 43.47%. Su asociación con el plano terminal recto es RM = 3.96 y con la mordida profunda es RM = 2.89. Conclusiones. La curva de Spee se encuentra presente en la dentición temporal y responde a la necesidad de compensar la trayectoria condilar. Propicia la máxima intercuspidización que permite la desoclusión protrusiva gracias a las guía anterior y condilar que evitan la presión excesiva en el área posterior, optimiza la función incisiva durante la acción de corte y promueve el desgaste de cúspides y bordes incisales, razón por la que en las mordidas profundas no se encontró [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
