Abstract (English): Applying bioethics to the practice of oncology allows access to the scenario where decisions go through an ethical analysis. When bioethical principles are exercised as a standard procedure, the doctor-patient relationship reflects concrete actions aimed at fostering the communication model, decision-making, respect for the dignity of the person and the process at the end of the life. In the experience of cancer as a chronic disease, the bioethical principles of autonomy, charity, justice and non-maleficent arise, combine and mobilize the actors involved. Its application is represented in informed consent: document in which the therapeutic alliance is built as a result of the communication that exists between the doctor and the sick person, which must be established as the basis for decision-making, because it consists of a process that does not come down to information and that is aimed at respecting the dignity of the people, seeking their well-being and accompanying them with respect and warmth. The bioethically oriented patient medical relationship should be based on the analysis, reflection and application of ethical norms and rules in the face of the moral problems manifested in cancer practice at each stage of the disease: diagnosis, treatment, quality of life and quality of death.
