| Abstract (English): | Introduction: Mammography quality is directly related to the ability to detect an abnormality and quality control is necessary in diagnostic imaging centers. Objective: Evaluate the quality of image, reading and mammography service of some diagnostic imaging centers in the city of Manizales Colombia. Materials and methods: In the study, four diagnostic imaging centers participated voluntarily and under confidentiality agreements. Out of a total of 520 women, 318 were mammographic. The infrastructure, technology and human resources of the unit were evaluated on the basis of a visual inspection of the service. A radiologist expert in reading and clinical interpretation of mammary images evaluated the quality of the image and the quality of its reading. Statistical analysis was carried out using the ANOVA methodology, kappa and percentage of disagreement. Results: Images of diminished quality were found mainly due to the presence of artifacts in 75% of the images evaluated, non-compliance with identification criteria and image labeling. Difficulties in the acquisition of the lateral median oblique projection due to the absence of inframammary angle. The level of agreement in the BIRADS report is low in the 4 centers, with important differences in the report and description of findings. Conclusion: The city's diagnostic centers are authorized for their operation, however, there are important deficiencies in image quality and reading, which highlights the need to seek quality standards, starting from those aspects that can be improved. La calidad de la mamografía está directamente relacionada con la capacidad para detectar anormalidad siendo necesario un control de calidad en los centros de imagen diagnóstica. Objetivo. Evaluar la calidad de imagen, lectura y servicio de mamografía de algunos centros de imágenes diagnóstica de la ciudad de Manizales Colombia. Materiales y métodos. Cuatro centros de imagen diagnóstica participaron de forma voluntaria y bajo acuerdos de confidencialidad en el estudio. De un total de 520 mujeres fueron realizadas tomas mamográficas en 318. A partir de una inspección visual del servicio se evaluó la infraestructura, tecnología y recurso humano de la unidad. Un radiólogo experto en lectura e interpretación clínica de imágenes mamarias, evaluó la calidad de la imagen y la calidad de lectura de la misma. Se realizó el análisis estadístico utilizando la metodología ANOVA, kappa y porcentaje de desacuerdo. Resultados. Se encontraron imágenes de calidad disminuida principalmente por presencia de artificios en el 75% de las imágenes evaluadas, incumplimiento en criterios de identificación y rótulo de la imagen. Dificultades en la toma de la proyección medio oblicuo lateral por ausencia de ángulo inframamario. El nivel de concordancia en el reporte BIRADS es bajo en los 4 centros, con diferencias importantes en el reporte y descripción de hallazgos. Conclusión. Los centros diagnósticos de la ciudad cuentan con habilitación para su funcionamiento, no obstante, existen falencias importantes en calidad de imagen y lectura, lo que pone en manifiesto la necesidad de buscar estándares de calidad, partiendo de los aspectos susceptibles de mejora.
