The aim of this article is to summarize the evidence of an excellent therapeutic option for the control of arterial hypertension, a review of the structure, in vitro effects and experimental effects of azilsartan (AZL) is made. This information provides the basic support to explain the excellent clinical results of azilsartan and azilsartan plus chlorthalidone (AZL-CLD) both in the experimental phase III reviewed here, and in real life in our Center, the experience of which will be reported in a descriptive way with azilsartan and AZL-CLD. Este artículo tiene como propósito resumir la evidencia de una excelente opción terapéutica para el control de la hipertensión arterial, se hace una revisión de la estructura, los efectos in vitro y los efectos experimentales de azilsartán (AZL). Esta información proporciona el soporte básico para explicar los excelentes resultados clínicos de azilsartán y azilsartán más clortalidona (AZL-CLD) tanto en la fase III experimental aquí revisada, como en la vida real en nuestro Centro, del que se reporta en forma descriptiva la experiencia con azilsartán y AZL-CLD.
