Abstract (English): Introduction. After orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances, it is important at this stage to remove the fixed appliances to reduce the risk of permanent damage to the enamel. The ideal method to perform cementation should provide an adequate bond strength that is sufficient to retain the brackets, withstand the forces of chewing, the stress exerted by the archwires, the abuse of the patient and at the same time should allow the removal of the brackets without cause damage to the enamel surface. Objective: To assess the state of the dental enamel when removing the residual resin through two mechanics after the removal of the bracket, in extracted teeth. Material and methods. The sample consisted of 64 upper and lower premolars that met the inclusion cr teria. Two study groups were formed: Group A) premolars that were treated with a high-speed multilaminate bur and Group B) premolars that were treated with a low-speed tungsten ball bur, each group consisted of 32 teeth, which they were randomly distributed. Results. In the assessment of the ARI in group A, the marker of 2 predominated with 43.8% (samples that had more than half with adhesive). In group B, the marker of 3 predominated with 43.8% (those samples that had all the adhesive), the comparison did not present statistically significant difference. In the ESI assessment, marker 1 (samples that had fine surface scratches) predominated, showing a statistically significant difference when presenting the value p < 0.05. Conclusion. The working hypothesis is accepted by showing that there is a difference in damage to the extracted teeth with the high and low speed mechanics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
