Abstract (English): The second issue of 2022 of Medicina UPB contains nine articles, including original research, narrative reviews, and case reports. Highlights include a study on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the health of Colombians, an analysis of knowledge about childhood parasitosis in Costa Rica, a description of the detection and management of pain in hospitalized patients, and a study on clinical characteristics related to treatment response in patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It also includes reviews on substance dependence and the use of sodium-glucose cotransporter type 2 inhibitors in patients with cardiovascular diseases, as well as case reports on spider bites, diphenhydramine poisoning, and the impact of osteoporosis on hearing and the anvil bone. This issue addresses epidemiological, clinical, and molecular biology aspects relevant to medical practice. [Extracted from the article]
Abstract (Spanish): El segundo número de 2022 de Medicina UPB contiene nueve artículos, incluyendo investigaciones originales, revisiones narrativas y reportes de caso. Destacan un estudio sobre el impacto de la pandemia de Covid-19 en la salud de los colombianos, un análisis sobre el conocimiento de las parasitosis infantiles en Costa Rica, una descripción sobre la detección y manejo del dolor en pacientes hospitalizados y un estudio sobre las características clínicas relacionadas con la respuesta al tratamiento en pacientes con trastorno por déficit de atención e hiperactividad. También se presentan revisiones sobre la dependencia a sustancias y el uso de inhibidores del cotransportador de sodio y glucosa tipo 2 en pacientes con dolencias cardiovasculares, así como reportes de caso sobre mordedura de araña, intoxicación por difenhidramina y el impacto de la osteoporosis en la audición y el yunque. Este número aborda aspectos epidemiológicos, clínicos y de biología molecular relevantes para la práctica médica. [Extracted from the article]
