| Abstract (English): | BACKGROUND: Ashy dermatosis is an acquired macular greyish blue hypermelanosis that occurs most often in patients with Fitzpatrick phototype III-V skin. Omeprazole chronic intake have been suggested as associated factors. CLINICAL CASE: A 25-years-old male patient with Fitzpatrick type IV skin complained of a 7-months history of pigmented macular non pruritic dermatosis in the back. He had a history of gastroesophageal reflux disease in treatment with omeprazole 40 mg daily since 3 years ago. Histology reported mild superficial perivascular mononuclear inflammatory infiltrate with intermixed melanophages, and dilated capillaries in the dermis. Red Congo stain was negative. A diagnosis of ashy dermatosis was concluded, and sun protection measures were indicated. CONCLUSIONS: A case of ashy dermatosis is presented in a phototype IV young man with a history of chronic intake of omeprazole. To date, there are no standardized therapies for ashy dermatosis management and post-treatment results are limited. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Spanish): | ANTECEDENTES: La dermatosis cenicienta es una hipermelanosis macular adquirida, azul grisáceo ceniciento que afecta con mayor frecuencia a pacientes con fototipo Fitzpatrick III-V. La ingesta crónica de omeprazol se ha sugerido como factor desencadenante asociado. CASO CLÍNICO: Paciente masculino de 25 años, de fototipo Fitzpatrick IV, que padecía una dermatosis macular pigmentada no pruriginosa en el dorso, de 7 meses de evolución. Como antecedente refería enfermedad de reflujo gastroesofágico en tratamiento con omeprazol a dosis de 40 mg diarios desde hacía 3 años. La histología informó leve infiltrado inflamatorio mononuclear perivascular superficial con melanófagos entremezclados y capilares dilatados en la dermis. La coloración rojo Congo fue negativa. Se concluyó diagnóstico de dermatosis cenicienta y se indicaron medidas de protección solar. CONCLUSIONES: Se comunica un caso de dermatosis cenicienta en un hombre joven de fototipo IV con antecedente de administración crónica de omeprazol. Hasta la fecha, no existen terapias estandarizadas para el manejo de la dermatosis cenicienta y los resultados postratamiento son escasos. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
